We Remember

By Submitted Article on November 11, 2020.

When those of us were twelve or ten

So many years away back then,

Our boys and men went off to war

From their homes both near and far.

Some went missing, never found,

Some were buried in the ground.

We remember. We remember.

Then war ended – Oh what glee!

We watched our parents’ relief to see

No more sadness – peace was here

Our soldiers home and we could cheer.

But all destruction leaves some scars

It changed their lives and dimmed some stars.

We show our thanks with poppies red

With grateful hearts and minds and heads.

We remember. We remember.
