Big or small – this weekend, southern Albertans can have a look at two ways to create a model railroad.
While familiar “HO” sized trains will be running on one side of the building, members of the Southern Alberta Model Railway Club will be operating a smaller “N” scale layout on the other Saturday and Sunday.
Both layouts are in expansion mode, so visitors will see what’s been added over the winter – and what’s being developed next. As a bonus, some members have created an operating, large-scale version of a railway bridge with a centre span that lifts for passing ships.
The organization’s no-charge, family-friendly open house is set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The permanent displays are located in the clubhouse in Gyro Park.
