Taking a break in April? Census officials are asking Lethbridge residents to give them a call before leaving.
City clerk Aletha Neufeld says calling her office before leaving will help them complete the task.
“For those residents who travel south for the spring or who know they will be away during census collection time, we’re strongly encouraging them to phone in their information,” she says.
“Concerns have been raised about census cards being left on doors.
“So to prevent that from happening, we’re asking residents to phone in their information prior to April 1 so a card will not be delivered.”
During the census collection period, April 1 to 23, census takers will delivering a white card to each household notifying residents of their personal identification number (PIN). It allows people to enter their census information online at Lethbridge.
Whether completing the census online, by phone or at the door, residents will be asked to answer three quick questions about their household.
To handle that by phone, call 403-320-3030.
Census takers, calling on residents during the first three weeks of April, will be wearing photo identification. All information collected is confidential and secure.
