JASPER, ALTA. – Parks Canada says Alberta Highway 16 is expected to reopen to all traffic Friday as long as conditions remain favourable.

Officials say the highway will open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., but times and access are dependent on fire behaviour.

Highway 93N and other park roadways remain closed to non-incident traffic.

Parks Canada says parts of the Icefields Parkway are also expected to reopen between Lake Louise, Alta., in Banff National Park and the Athabasca Glacier area of the Columbia Icefield.

The road is only accessible from the south via Highway 11 or the Trans-Canada Highway.

The road remains closed between the Athabasca Glacier and Jasper, as a massive wildfire continues to threaten the area.
