Division Avenue construction begins next week

Road construction will begin on Division Avenue next week.

The city announced Friday the construction stretching from the top of Cemetery Hill to the Third Street intersection will get underway at the start of the new week.

Traffic management plans, including detours, will be implemented as construction activities commence, and the project completion is targeted for fall 2024 pending weather.

They say the project is a key component of the city’s transportation infrastructure renewal strategy and includes four improvements: replacement of the pavement surface, construction of a 3-meter-wide multi-use pathway, replacement of damaged concrete surfaces as required and installation, upgrade and repair of selected water mains, sanitary sewers and stormwater infrastructure.

The traffic flow will be managed through lane narrowing and flagging operations initially, with changes to detours as the construction progresses.
