Strike notice leads Lantic Sugar to stop production at Vancouver refinery

A release from the company states it was served with a 72-hour strike notice by the Private and Public Workers Of Canada, Local No. 8, on Sept. 25. The two sides are continuing talks to renew a contract that expired in February. About 110 unionized workers at Lantic’s sugar beet processing plant in Taber signed a multi-year contract in 2022 that runs through 2027. 5-4
