The route of a planned power line in Cypress County, which faced opposition from landowners, has been changed, according to a new notice from the Alberta Utilities Commission.
Enerfin Canada had proposed connecting the Winnifred Wind farm, to be built in the County of Forty Mile, from the AltaLink Holsom substation on Range Road 84 to the Bullshead Substation southwest of Medicine Hat.
The original route submitted last fall would have the 25-kilometre line run along Township Road 114, but that drew criticism from landowners and the attention of Cypress County, which argued it had plans to upgrade infrastructure in the same right-of-way.
An altered route submitted by Enerfin to the Alberta Utilities Commission shows Township Road 120, then a portion of Highway 3, as its new planned route for approval.
The AUC issued the notice of the change on June 14, and will accept written public feedback on the proposal until July 7. Parties previously registered as intervenors are asked to renew their intention to participate.
