A large lot on Southlands Boulevard could become a townhouse condominium complex for seniors following the approval of a conditional land sale Monday by city council.
The city-developed 2.9-acre lot would be sold for $930,000, offered by a company referred to as “Developments, Inc.” in documents which came to council through the city’s administrative committee on May 18.
That price is about 8 per cent less than the original $1.02-million asking price. The subdivision’s marketing plan calls for new construction there to comprise at least 56 units, considering its size of just more than one hectare.
The proposal is described as similar to a bareland condo development being built nearby at 401 Southlands Blvd.
The site is across the street from a recently built large apartment complex and a future school site.
Council approved the item with an 8-0 vote. The deal is now subject to standard closing conditions.
