Following the Government of Alberta’s implementation of new COVID-19 protocol on Dec. 24, the Big Marble Go Centre’s New Year’s Eve Fest has been cancelled.
The event was scheduled from noon to 4 p.m. on Dec. 31. While the event is no longer being held due to limits on the number of individuals who can gather indoors, the centre will still be conducting regular operations on Dec. 31, from 5:45 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A number of other local venues have been impacted by the new protocol. Capacity has been reduced at the Esplanade, Kinplex and Co-op Place. The concession at Co-op Place will be closed for the foreseeable future, while concession at Kinplex remains open at this time.
Brian Stauth, fire chief and acting managing director of the city’s public services division, said in a release, “These necessary measures come at a time when the number of active cases and hospitalizations are rising across Alberta. We must implement these measures now in order to help keep our residents and staff safe.”
In the release, Hatters are reminded that masks and social distancing are required in all city facilities.
