The United Way South Eastern Alberta is helping Hatters wrap up the Christmas season in style. From now until Dec. 24, United Way will be operating a Christmas Wrapping Booth in Medicine Hat Mall near Hudson’s Bay.

The annual volunteer-run service wraps gifts of all sizes with price determined by size.

“The average gift is between five and six dollars to have wrapped,” Missy Fandrick, executive director of United Way South Eastern Alberta, told the News.

“For United Way, this is the second largest fundraiser we will do this year. All the money (raised) stays in this community.”

Fandrick explained there’s no set goal for funds raised, but she and her team are hoping to reach or surpass previous years’ totals.

“We’re so grateful that we still have community partners that want to do it,” Fandrick said.

She invites organizations, businesses and individuals in Medicine Hat and area to join the wrapping team or, for those less wrapping-inclined, visit the booth to add the finishing touches to their Christmas gifts.

The booth operates on the same hours as the mall, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
