A Medicine Hat couple is $1 million richer after discovering their Western Max ticket was a winner.
John and Annalee Wagner were running errands recently when they checked their ticket and found it to be a $1-million winner.
“We were shocked,” said Annalee in a release from the AGLC. “It felt so surreal.”
“It’s definitely surreal,” agreed John. “You hear about this happening to other people, but to have it happen to you – it’s a big shock.”
John told the AGCL the couple has big plans for the winnings.
“We’ve never been on a holiday,” said John. “As soon as it’s safe and all of the travel bans have been lifted, we’re going to take a vacation.
“But the best part about winning is knowing we can relax a little bit. There’s less stress about the unknown – and that feels great.”
Annalee purchased the winning ticket at the Safeway gas bar on Dunmore Road.
