A Calgary man is dead after two semi-trucks collided head on near Vauxhall on Monday afternoon.

RCMP, fire and ambulance crews responded to the crash on Highway 526 near Range Road 163 just before noon on Feb. 15.

The lone driver of the eastbound semi, a 29-year-old male, was pronounced dead on the scene, while an adult and young passenger in the westbound vehicle were treated at local hospital for minor injuries.

RCMP traffic analyst is investigating the crash that caused major delays into the evening. The name of the deceased is not being released and authorities say no charges are pending.

Foul play

Two deaths in the Crowsnest Pass were the result of a murder suicide, the RCMP have reported following autopsies.

Mounties discovered the bodies of a 55-year-old man and 40-year-old women in their residence on the morning of Feb. 5. Police now report that a medical examination shows the woman was the victim of a homicide and the man took his own life. No charges can be laid and authorities are not releasing anymore information.

Sign hits van

Mounties near Fort Saskatchewan report that a sign hit a passing car, not the other way around, on Feb. 9.

The RCMP was called to a collision near a highway off ramp and found damage to a mini-van was the result of an overhead highway sign sheering of its mount and falling into traffic lanes. The 55-year-old driver of the vehicle, which was passing underneath at the time, was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
