The County of Warner, tucked between County of Forty Mile and Cardston County, has the distinction of not having had any cases of COVID-19.

County of Forty Mile and Taber had a couple cases each going back to early April and then nothing more since then.

The number of “active” cases of COVID-19 in the south zone has not increased much since May 17, according to Alberta Health’s data released on June 24.

Medicine Hat had five active cases in this same time frame, then climbed to nine. At one point there were zero, though there are now two active cases.

Cypress County had three, climbed to seven, but has had zero for the last couple of weeks.

The city of Lethbridge had four active cases and climbed to nine. It currently has five.

The County of Lethbridge had zero active cases for weeks and then climbed to three and currently has two.

Brooks, which has had a total of 1,119 positive cases since the outbreak, had 80 cases on May 17 and has been on the decline ever since. On June 8 it dropped to one case and currently has three active cases. There have been 10 deaths.

Cardston County sat at 14 cases on May 17 and dropped to two at the beginning of June before numbers increased to 10 on June 8. The first death was reported by Alberta Health the following day. Recently there were 15 cases but on June 24 the number was eight.

County of Newell had three active cases on May 17 and by early June that number was reduce and now sits at zero.

Willow Creek had a high of five cases in late May and for a couple of weeks had zero active cases. Recently the number has been three.

There are about 30 active cases currently across the whole of the south zone.

Since the province lifted lockdown requirements there has been an increase in the number of cases in other parts of the province.

Since June 1 Calgary has had 333 new cases of COVID-19. The running total as of June 24 is 5,229.

Edmonton has had 360 new cases since the beginning of the month and now stands at 914 total.

The south zone has had 50 new cases in the same time frame and now stands at 1,289.

Across the whole province, since the beginning of the month, there have been 781 new cases. June 1 the total was 7,044 and June 24 it was 7,825.

The good news is we have only 38 people in hospital with COVID across the province. The number has fluctuated a bit recently but you have to go back to late March to see a number like that.

We have not seen double digits of people in ICU since May 14 and on June 24 there were seven cases across the province and none in the south zone.
