Canadian Blood Services to resume mobile clinics in Medicine Hat, but by appointment only

By Medicine Hat News on June 26, 2020.

Canadian Blood Services will resume mobile donor events in Medicine Hat this summer.

Donors in the area are requested to book appointments in order to meet physical distancing requirements.

CBS has introduced enhanced wellness measures in donor centres including mandatory masks, wellness screening, physical distancing, increased cleaning and the elimination of walk-in appointments.

“We are grateful to the ongoing support we receive from Medicine Hat residents and need to advise that we can only welcome people with appointments at this time,” said Lisa Castro, territory manager CBS. “Appointments help minimize the number of people in the donor centre and allow people to complete a prescreening questionnaire before they arrive, so they can self-defer if necessary.”

There are still 150 appointments available for the upcoming donor events at Medicine Hat Lodge, including: July 6 from 2-7 p.m., July 7 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and July 8 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

CBS will return to Medicine Hat on Aug. 10, 11 and 12.

To book an appointment, locate a donor centre, check your eligibility and more, download the GiveBlood app available for iOS on the App Store or for Android on Google Play, or visit blood.ca
