Brooks RCMP seek ‘suspicious’ person after bus stop incident

By Medicine Hat News on January 31, 2020.

The Brooks RCMP are on the lookout for a suspicious person after an incident Wednesday morning.

Police responded to a young student’s complaint of a suspicious individual at the bus stop outside the JBS Centre in Brooks.

The student, a young girl, reported that a male in a truck had done a U-turn after passing by and stopped to offer her a ride.

Police say the interaction was brief, as the male departed when the bus arrived soon after. They are looking to speak with the man to clarify what his intentions were, and whether they were criminal in nature.

The student acted appropriately by not engaging in conversation and getting in touch with an adult, the RCMP said.

The vehicle in question is described as a two-door, older blue truck with rust, with the driver described as being somewhere between a teenager and early-20-year-old, heavy set, with a light-coloured moustache.

The RCMP detachment is continuing its investigation and so cold have an increased presence at school zones in the area.

Anyone with further information is urged to call the Brooks RCMP at 403-794-4400.
