MHPS seek assistance in case of suspicious male approaching woman near Carry Drive

By Medicine Hat News on November 28, 2019.

Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspicious male involved in an incident Tuesday afternoon.

An adult female reported being approached by the man in a white vehicle near Carry Drive around 3 p.m.

He “engaged” her from the vehicle and then “approached her again in an inappropriate manner,” according to a Medicine Hat Police Service news release.

“There were two incidents within a couple of minutes, where basically he tried to get her attention and get her to come with him,” elaborated Staff Sgt. Rod Thompson.

“There was nothing further to it than that. We obviously are concerned, and want to be diligent and try to determine who the person is in case there are more similar types of events.”

The man isn’t at this time suspected of committing a crime, Thompson added.

“It could be nothing, but we want to just see if there’s more to it than was initially reported,” he said.

The male is described as being in his early 20’s, with black hair, a dark complexion and speaking with an accent.

He was operating an older model car with dark tinted windows that appeared to be poorly maintained.

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact the MHPS at 403-529-8481 or submit at tip, anonymously if desired, through the MHPS mobile app.
