Workshop in Taber will tackle plant protein production and how to boost it

By Medicine Hat News on October 11, 2019.

Boosting value-added plant protein production will be the topic of a workshop hosted next month in Taber by economic developers in South-Central Alberta.

“Fractionation 101” is presented by Plant Protein Alliance of Alberta, and several Taber-area ag-centred development agencies, as well as Farm Credit Canada.

Industry and government officials will discuss the potential for economic diversification, facility site selection and attraction strategies to localize processing of crops such as canola, hemp and pulses.

The event takes place on the afternoon of Nov. 21 at the Heritage Inn in Taber.

The afternoon is an initiative of Canada’s Premier Food Corridor, a group promoting Highway 3 as a burgeoning centre of specialty food production, and the SouthGrow regional initiative.

Similar events are taking place in Red Deer and Grande Prairie at the end of November.
