Teen arrested as 7-Eleven robbery suspect after police release photo

A suspect has been arrested in the Sept. 30 7-Eleven robbery. A 15-year-old male faces charges of robbery with a firearm (or imitation) and wearing a disguise with the intent to commit an indictable offence.

Police have arrested a 15-year-old male for allegedly robbing the Carry Drive 7-Eleven in a gorilla mask.

A culprit walked into the convenience store brandishing a weapon on Sept. 30 around 1:10 a.m. and demanded cash from an employee, leaving the store with an undisclosed amount of cash and merchandise.

No injuries were sustained in the course of the robbery.

The suspect, who cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, faces charges of robbery with a firearm (or imitation) and wearing a disguise with the intent to commit an indictable offence.

On Wednesday, police released a photo from the surveillance footage to seek public assistance in apprehending the offender.

A news release from the Medicine Hat Police Service suggests this was instrumental in locating the suspect.

“The Medicine Hat Police Service would like to thank members of the public for their assistance in providing information to assist with this investigation,” it reads.
