Farmers Market season is officially over – for now at least.

Saturday marked the final Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede Farmers Market for 2019 – ending another successful year for the events.

“It has been absolutely crazy in here this morning,” said vendor executive member Brian Kannekens. “We have over 65 vendors today and we’re fitting them all into an even smaller space than we normally do – it’s been crazy.”

As always, the day featured live music and timed draws to win prizes – with an estimated 1,500-2,000 people passing through Saturday.

“It’s been another really strong year for us,” said Kannekens. “We always have a strong group of returning vendors, but we also saw a good group of new vendors this year.”

Kannekens says the city also turns out to support small businesses.

“Medicine Hat isn’t a small city, but it has that feel to it,” he said. “I think people really like the idea of shopping local and speaking face to face with the people who make the product.”

There are two markets left in 2019 with a Christmas market being held Nov. 8 and 9. Then a market on Dec. 5 during the Old Tyme Christmas event.
