Coyote sighting puts nearby school on alert

A coyote has been spotted in South Ridge and other parts of the city area, according to a Facebook post from nearby St. Patrick’s School.

“On Alert” signs have gone up in the area and the school could enter a “shelter in place” if there is coyote sighting, where classes continue as normal, but nobody can enter or leave the building.

School administrators have confirmed with police and bylaw to confirm that the signs are a routine precautionary measure that will be moved as the coyote makes its way elsewhere throughout the city.
