Anyone who has experienced a medical condition that requires equipment in order to function at home may have discovered AJ’s Loan Cupboard.
The need may be for a pair of crutches or a range of equipment to care for someone who is very ill but wants to be in their own home.
Their inventory of electric hospital beds and lifts, walkers, wheelchairs, crutches, toilet seat extensions, bedside rails, power reclining chairs, and more are loaned out without charge to all those who need them.
AJ’s is no longer located in the light industrial area and is now in the same building as Top Hat Bingo, 4-602A Clay Avenue SE. Telephone 403-580-5580.
AJ’s Loan Cupboard was started after Alan Norman Joys passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2002.
In order to stay in his own home for as long as possible there was equipment he needed.
The family became aware of the enormous financial cost of obtaining the right medical equipment supports and they wanted to see that taken care of for others in the future.
Sometimes people make donations when the equipment is returned other make donations because the concept is something they cherish.
When equipment is returned it goes through a sterilization process and is carefully maintained with the help of volunteers.
At the moment they are particularly in need of more volunteers to help customers.
