Additional volunteers needed for Alberta 55plus Summer Games

By Medicine Hat News on May 23, 2019.

Additional volunteers are needed for the Alberta 55plus Summer Games taking place from July 4-7.

Volunteers are particularly in demand in areas such as food services, safety and security, for the sport of bocce, cycling, horseshoes, lawn bowling, slo-pitch, swimming and track and field.

“Medicine Hat is renowned for having very welcoming and dedicated volunteers to support major functions such as this,” said Gordon Nott, volunteer director. “In all, we will be working with about 400 volunteers to ensure everything runs smoothly for the anticipated 1,200 participants who are coming here this summer.”

Nott says they will also be forming a pool of volunteers on which to draw for unexpected needs during the Games.

While the Games are targeted at participants who are at least 55 years of age, the only stipulation for volunteers is that they be over 18.

Volunteers may register online by following the Medicine Hat 55plus 2019 Summer Games logo at alberta55plus.ca/games or in person using the registration form at the reception desks at the Veiner Centre and Family Leisure Centre.

For more information contact Gordon Nott directly at info@mhgames.ca or at 403-504-8533.
