Opportunity knocks at MHC job fair

More than 40 employers will be onsite Wednesday at Medicine Hat College for the institution’s annual job fair.

The event will be held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Centennial Hall with companies seeking summer help or applicants for full-time careers. A number of other services, such as career development or institutions offering further job training will be on hand.

This year’s list of employers shows a good range in the health-care and financial sectors, engineering, trades, or public sector.

Health-care providers include representatives from AgeCare, Covenant Health, the Green Acres Foundation, the Saskatchewan Health Authority and the Good Samaritan Society.

Trades and construction Borea Construction, Finning, the Davis Group (all positions including auto repair).

Other educational institutions on hand will be Cypress College, the University of Lethbridge and the College of the Rockies.

Employment supports and further job-seeking help including Alberta Supports Employment Hub, Being Human Services, Saamis Aboriginal Employment & Training Associations and YMCA Employment Centre.

Social services and related providers are Medicine Hat & District Child Care Association, Next Step Residential Services Ltd., REDI Enterprises and CORE Association.

Scientific opportunities will be described by Qinetiq, the Department of National Defence and Defence Research & Development Canada.

Sunlife Financial and the Western Financial Group will also take part, as will police agencies in Calgary and Medicine Hat, the Commissionaires, Canada Border Services, the Medicine Hat Remand Centre, the Canadian Armed Forces and Correctional Services Canada.

A variety of employers are seeking various positions and managers, including the City of Medicine Hat, Medicine Hat College, McDonald’s, Tim Hortons and JBS Canada.
