The Redcliff RCMP is currently investigating the disappearance of a horse from an area in Cypress County south of Irvine.

The black Percheron gelding, last seen on Aug. 26, stands 19 hands high, is 23 years old and has a two-inch white circle and star on its forehead, as well as a brand on his left rear thigh with an Anchor over R.

The horse has been reported to Livestock Identification Services.

County Mountie Rebecca Wilke says the missing animal was reported to her by the owner.

“It’s just not there,” said Wilke. “The owner knows his land in and out, and he’s been searching it going on four days. He hasn’t seen anything and neither have the neighbours.”

In her experience, this type of disappearance is “not very common at all.”

Those with more information can contact the Redcliff detachment at 403-542-2268.
