Boundary breakdowns: Brooks-Medicine Hat

Medicine Hat News

New provincial election boundaries have left three ridings in the southeastern region of the province: Brooks-Medicine Hat, Cypress-Medicine Hat and Taber-Warner.

The News will bring you details on any hopefuls from each party seeking candidacy for each of these ridings.

The Brooks-Medicine Hat riding has the South Saskatchewan River as a boundary on the west side and includes Bassano, Bow City, Scandia, Redcliff and Veinerville. The eastern boundary of the riding is the Saskatchewan border and includes communities such as Schuler and Hilda. The Red Deer River and Cypress County border are the northern boundaries of the riding.

Not all parties have contestants or candidates in the Brooks-Medicine Hat riding as of yet.

Alberta Party: Jim Black is a contestant in this riding according to Alberta Elections website.

Liberal Party: There has been no announcement yet on a candidate for this riding, according to the Alberta Elections website.

NDP: There has been no announcement yet on a candidate for this riding, according to the Alberta Elections website.

United Conservative Party (UCP): There are two contestants vying to be the candidate: Michaela Glasgo, who announced in March, and Todd Beasley, who announced this week. Applications are being accepted until June 20, and voting is expected to take place in mid July.
