Though the wait was long this year, Medicine Hatters are now being treated to summer-like weather to kick off May.
The city has plenty to offer residents looking to soak up some sun. Whether it’s the vast selection of walking trails, a park to spend a day with the family, or just hanging out in the backyard with family and friends.
Cyclepath sales manager Dan Haughian says the store has seen a giant influx of customers in the past couple weeks.
“It’s been super busy here,” he said. “We’re selling a ton of full-suspension bikes, and everyone is super excited with the weather being so nice.
“With the cold weather this year, it lasted so long — people are hungry to get out there.”
He says it is something that happens every summer.
People are really ready to get out on the trails and ride,” he said. “This happens every year, but usually earlier on.
“It’s an exciting time of the year for us, so hopefully we can keep this warm weather and help as many people as possible get out there.”
Speaking of trails, one of Medicine Hat’s most popular walking and biking spots is Police Point Park — which gets very busy when the sun is out.
“When the weather is really nice, like on Saturday, it gets really busy here,” said park interpreter Marty Drut. “We don’t keep track of numbers or anything like that, but when it gets warm out we see a lot of people on the trials.”
Police Point is also holding a flower walk event Sunday at 3 p.m. starting at the Ross Creek Coulee trail.
