After pleading guilty to several offences, man accused of groping young girl on bus gets bail

Tyler Stannard, 32, pled guilty to numerous charges spanning incidents from November 2017 to February. This includes pleading guilty to shoplifting $500 in electronic equipment from Walmart, shoplifting a small value of items from a store downtown, attempting to use a stolen credit card to make a purchase at a store, mischief charges for throwing a stick through a residence’s pane of glass, being in possession of a stolen iPod, using a stolen debit card to make a purchase at a fast-food restaurant, and thefts from two backyards. The sentence for all these amounted to $2,800 in fines, alongside victim fine surcharges — and 25 days in jail, considered time served. Stannard also faces charges after allegations he fondled and made sexual remarks toward a 12-year-old girl on a city bus in January. He has had release on these charges, but was remanded into custody on some of the property-related charges and was waiting to obtain counsel through legal aid. His next court appearance is set for May 31. 8
