Medicine Hat News A group of turkeys is called a rafter — and now a gigantic rafter of turkeys will now be feeding families in need in Medicine Hat. South Country Co-op on Wednesday made a donation of 140 cases of turkeys to the Medicine Hat and District Food Bank. The donation came about as the Co-op was working with its suppliers, said meat manager Ben Dutchak, and there were oversupplies — which led to putting the turkeys to good use “It’s part working with the food bank, and supporting the local community here,” said Dutchak, pointing to the Co-op’s motto “You’re at home here.” In total, approximately 600 birds were donated to the Medicine Hat and District Food Bank. The value of the donation is $8,500. Another 200 birds were donated by the Taber Co-op to the Taber Food Bank. 8
