Local man arrested for stealing tools from city building

A 22-year-old Medicine Hat man has been arrested in relation to stolen property.

Medicine Hat police report that on Feb. 19, officers responded to a report of a break and enter to a City of Medicine Hat building located on Powerhouse Road SW.

Stolen were tools for joining high voltage lines together, which are of no use to the general public. The total value of the stolen tools is estimated at $39,000.

Then on March 1, MHPS Priority Street Crime Section was conducting an investigation into another matter when they found some of the stolen property in a motel room located in the 1100 block of First Street SW.

One man was taken into custody, and the room secured for the execution of a search warrant. Almost all the property was recovered.

Wyatt Fuchs-Zeller has been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, and possession of break-in instruments.

Fuchs-Zeller was held for a bail hearing and then subsequently released on a number of conditions, with a court appearance scheduled for March 14.
