Medicine Hat College, in partnership with Rotary Club of Medicine Hat and Sunrise Rotary Club, Miywasin Friendship Centre and The Blood Tribe Department of Health, will be hosting the “Journey to Reconciliation Conference” beginning on Feb. 14.
Speakers from different First Nations will share their stories, truths and realities. Topics will include presentations on the legacy of residential schools, the importance of forgiveness, healing through art therapy, Native traditional games and realities, and stories of murdered and missing Indigenous women in Canada. Also featured will be the REDress Project, an exhibit to honor and bring awareness of these murdered and missing women. There will also be a round dance to end the conference, and a sacred fire ceremony to commence it conducted by several Elders and Knowledge Keepers.
