Plenty on tap this weekend

It’s going to be another busy weekend full of events in Medicine Hat and region, and Saturday carries a forecasted with a high of 27 degrees.

RCMP cleanup

Alberta RCMP is asking motorists to be careful when using highways in southern Alberta this weekend because of a highway cleanup event.

Members from various youth groups will be cleaning up highways near Medicine Hat, Brooks, Taber, Bow Island, Foremost, Cardston, Vulcan, Pincher Creek, Claresholm and Lethbridge.

The RCMP is asking drivers to slow down, obey signage and to be alert when coming across cleanup crews.

Poop pickup

The sixth annual Scoopy Poopy Poop-Pickin’ Party is being held Saturday morning in Kin Coulee park from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The group of more than 100 dog owners gathers each year to clean up park trails, to offer a more positive walking experience to those who wish to use them.

There will be a barbecue held at the park at noon.

Motorcycle galore

The Ladies of Harley group is holding a ride from Badlands Harley-Davidson to the 1234 Cafe in Elkwater. The group is meeting at 11 a.m. and leaving shortly after.

Sunday morning holds the annual Blessing of the Bikes ceremony at Gordon Memorial Church in Redcliff. Service starts at 10:30 a.m.

Concerts

The Concerto Showcase Gala 2017 is taking place at 7 p.m. at the Esplanade.

Shotgun Jimmie, Ariel Sharratt & Mathias Kom and local artist camgee will be performing Sunday at Medalta.
