An unidentified female was found dead and a 26-year-old male is in custody after the female’s body was found at a house on the 800 block of Third St. SE Saturday night, said Insp. Brent Secondiak at a press conference Sunday morning at MHPS headquarters.
The male has been arrested for murder and police say more details will be released once formal charges have been laid.
Insp. Brent Secondiak said in a press conference Sunday morning that police believe the male and deceased female were known to each other, but do not know the extent of the relationship.
Secondiak said the police are also investigating whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the homicide.
An autopsy for the female is scheduled for Tuesday, where a cause of death will be determined.
Search and rescue personnel were also at the scene tasking the surrounding area for evidence.

This is the second homicide of this month, with two men being charged with second degree murder just one week ago.
