Legacy Giving: Easy to get involved in legacy giving at The Salvation Army

By Medicine Hat News on September 17, 2019.

The Salvation Army has been a staple in the community for years and it offers a number of vital services to Hatters.

The organization is a not-for-profit charity and is funded largely by donations. Director of business administration Connie Dulle says legacy giving can make a sizable impact on The Salvation Army.

“Legacy giving is definitely very helpful for us,” she said. “It’s something we see occasionally and it goes to the programs that the person leaving the money wishes.

“Whatever people leave and whatever programs they want to help – it all goes to working on community needs.”

Dulle says legacy donations are not something the organization receives every year, but the process is easy to get involved with.

“What they can do is give us a call or let their lawyer know when they’re working on their will,” she said. “It’s helpful if they call in and we can discuss our programs with them – we want to make sure their wishes are met.”

Locally The Salvation Army’s programs include the Family Services Program, the Hot Meal Program, the Shelter Program and the Small Loan Porgram.
