Medicine Hat Cares fundraiser goes this weekend

Medicine Hat News Medicine Hat Cares is hosting a garage sale/fundraiser May 5-6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Royal Legion Branch 17, 702 Second Street S.E. The event will be held downstairs in the Ortona Room. Purpose of the garage sale is primarily to raise funds to keep doing food hampers to those who in need, people who fall through the cracks and cannot access typical city resources. The Medicine Hat Cares group helps families with food, shopping, shut-ins, rides to appointments and resources and more. Throughout the years Cares members have been supplying food hampers on a daily basis. This number is on the rise. It has gone from eight a week to four or more a day. Fundraising and help from our members lets Medicine Hat Cares help feed those in need. The Royal Legion have contributed to the day by donating use of the room. Furry Friends Foundation has been invited to have their own tables and Cypress College students will have baked goods available for sale in support of the Legion. Any food donations will also be accepted at this time. 10-9
