Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, June 4, 2024

Tickled Pink

With the ballon festival in Medicine Hat. What a delight. So colourful and big and slow moving. Created a lot of joy in playing the “spot the balloon game.” What fun. Do it again.

Ticked Off

If all you voters think that voting in Pierre Poilievre is going to get rid of the carbon tax, think again. This is a tax that is here to stay, and any politician who says they’ll be ridding the Canadian public of it is lying and only after votes. Do your homework and make good choices.

Ticked Off

The driver of the huge company truck blowing his horn at me for trying to get in line at a badly marked road closure on this city street.

Tickled Pink

That the City of Medicine Hat has such a smart and educated accounting supervisor, Aaron Hoimyr. Very impressed with his interview with Dan Reynish on the CHAT News Tuesday night. It’s a plus that he loves his job. Good on you.

Tickled Pink

The balloon festival was majestic! Seeing them float over neighbourhoods was mesmerizing, and must have brought tons of tourism. Friends from Edmonton came with family of five just for the festival. Finally something exciting to attract folks.

Ticked Off

Andy McGrogan thinks province has gone too far with that bill but doesn’t consider the sanctions on mayor going too far?

Ticked Off

That our mayor could not be on time for the beginning of Mr. Cuff’s seminar on May 29.

Ticked Off

It really pains me to go grocery shopping and see some of our most vulnerable make tough food choices. One store, meat went up 40% in a week. It’s time someone start a not-for-profit food store. You can still make a salary and pay workers reasonably, just the corporation wouldn’t turn a profit. Wouldn’t that put a wrench in their spokes.

Ticked Off

After hearing that city administration has not been following the rules of FOIP, it does make you respectfully question if they are doing the same with policy and procedures.

Ticked Off

At people complaining about the MH Public Library. In a May 30 submission, the person talks about how “the current library is in the wrong location” and “does not have the facilities needed by most library users.” What more resources could you possibly need from a library? They have books, events, children and teen nights, and host things like the comic con and the YXH market for the hot air balloon festival. I think that’s plenty of resources. I think if you are feeling like our library is inferior, you need to get out of your house and actually check out what it has to offer.

Ticked Off

Feeling extremely disappointed that someone stole my strawberry planter hanging on my front steps. Have we really stooped so low to steal people’s garden items?

Ticked Off

That people would dislike the new Saskatchewan baseball team name “Berries” is perfect and their uniforms are adorable. Was at the season opener and they did a fine job for such a new and young club. The team should be proud to wear the colour of Saskatoon berries and the name as well.

Ticked Off

That our mayor, during her questions to Mr. Cuff, used the word “I” many times. There is no I in team, Ms. Clark.

Tickled Pink

Why is it there are overwhelmingly more ticked off than tickled pink commenters? I have recently returned to the Hat after about 15 years away and am happy to see so many old businesses still here. I do get annoyed with all the complainers. I love this place, and maybe you gotta move away to appreciate how great and cheap this city is.

Tickled Pink

I really hope our councillors and city manager had their listening ears on during Mr. Cuff’s presentation. I viewed online live. Never bought into nor believe in a unanimous vote for sanctions. Get to work, remove sanctions and run our city honestly with integrity. And possibly you’ll eventually earn my trust.

Ticked Off

At some of the vile things people are saying on social media about Pride Month. Kindness is free, and happy Pride to all!

Tickled Pink

With the informative article about the invasion weed called downy brome including a picture of what it looks like. As I was walking on the Ross Glen pathways I noticed how much there is in the parks around the trees. I would ask people to look behind their fences because there is tons of it that would be just great if the owners would dispose of it. We had quite a lot of it as well and before this article we actually just cut it and let it grow.

Ticked Off

That grown adults cannot seem to be compassionate toward these young scooter and moped drivers. At least they are trying to get to sport activities or jobs instead of doing nothing or doing drugs. This city has very limited entertainment for these young people, so please give them some space on the road.

Tickled Pink

MHPL is fabulous! Love the e-books available! Love the children’s books section. Yes, limited parking but plenty of parking near by. One of my favourite places.

Tickled Pink

A big thank-you to the kind gentleman and lovely lady who stopped to help me on May 31 after my motorcycle accident on 13th Avenue. Your kindness and concern was greatly appreciated.

Tickled Pink

People in MH who complain about driving across to Big Marble, Co-op place, the library, hockey rinks, outdoor swimming pools, or the Esplanade, seriously need to try living in a larger centre for a while. MH is a maximum of 20 minutes from one side to the other. If Hatters want more facilities, then use the existing ones more to show the need.

Tickled Pink

Buy local as much as possible. Shopping at the larger grocery combo stores seems cheaper but all that profit goes elsewhere. I shop local and watch for sales. We have some great local stores downtown and other areas in the city. If we want them to thrive, go shopping at them, buying something – it keeps money in the community.
