Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, Jan. 19

Ticked Off

Cry wolf one too many times, poor examples of mankind! That covers everyone, do we really need to nit pick things to death … this is worse than kindergarten!

Ticked Off

Disgusted to watch eight vehicles blow by a child waiting at a marked crosswalk on College Drive. Hope police were watching as a few $800 fines and four demerits might wake those drivers up.

Tickled Pink

With the job Danielle Smith is doing! Good job, Ms. Smith.

Ticked Off

Voting for Danielle Smith was a total waste of my vote, her campaign promises were just a bunch of hot air.

Ticked Off

Over 400 equally qualifying students apply to be nurses for every 30 seats available. We don’t have a shortage of people wanting to train as nurses. It’s a funding shortage. Open up more training.

Ticked Off

The income cut-off to receive the new Alberta Inflation Relief monies, for those struggling to manage, is $180,000 per year – $180,000 divided by 12 months is the equivalent of $15,000 per month income. Why is anyone making $15,000 per month eligible for this benefit?

Ticked Off

Our city taxes are paying for four and up to eight Invest Medicine Hat city employees to sell real estate. We have realtors who will do it on a commission payable only on a sale basis.

Ticked Off

Those industries that feed the country seem to get shafted all the time, and expecting the blue collar workers to have a pittance as a wage. Let’s keep wasting taxpayer dollars lining the pockets of our politicians.

Ticked Off

Laziness is not the reason people don’t like self check outs, it’s the principle. I am their customer, not their employee. I guess you would be happy to stock shelves or clean up in aisle 3 as well, but I wouldn’t, it’s not my job.

Ticked Off

City scrapped its solar panel field but all around us are solar fields being built, maybe the city should of held on a little longer. Too bad city is so eager to get rid of things. (Editor’s note: That’s because the city scrapped a solar thermal field, which is not at all the same thing as a solar panel field because it creates heat, not power, a point the News has clarified on several occasions since the decision was made. Here’s an excerpt from a story we ran in 2019 when the shuttering was first announced: “The project itself creates heat, not electricity like a photo-voltaic solar panel system would, by focusing the sun’s rays on piping via an array of parabolic mirrors. It then uses piped brine to heat water in the city’s main steam generator in the facility below the hill near the Gas City Campground.” Hope this helps. Also, this project went well over budget and didn’t make money, which is why the city at that time suggested it was closing it down.)

Ticked Off

Just look at all the landlords gouging on rent for long vacant apartments and you’ll know why we’ll never end homelessness.

Tickled Pink

That the Tigers game against the Regina Pats is going to be close to a sell-out. And that’s because of Connor Bedard of course getting the gold medal. However I hope the people who don’t usually come will see what a fun time it is and continue to come support our Tigers.

Ticked Off

I just learned that one of my favourite neighbours bought their first home. Even though I am happy for them, I am very sad I won’t be able to see you every day when I get home from work. I’ll miss you all. I’m very depressed because of it!

Ticked Off

Why is it some people will not return their shopping cart to a safe spot. Just leaving it in the parking lot is asking for trouble. The winds come up and these carts get blown around, usually end up bumping into someone’s vehicle. Let’s be considerate of others.

Tickled Pink

Would be if the city tore down the old Arena and built a new 4,500 seat Arena/Curling Complex downtown. The Tigers wanted to stay in a smaller venue, the majority of citizens wanted the Event Centre downtown, and the city owns the land. Build a pedestrian overpass to the downtown core coming out where the Royal Hotel stood. Revitalize the downtown. Win-win-win. Sounds like a good plan!

Ticked Off

At neighbours on both sides. Their dogs do their business all winter long in yards. Once it warms, the stench is unbearable. Please pick up crap on a regular basis!
