Gophers overrunning Medicine Hat Village

By Letter to the Editor on June 23, 2018.

Medicine Hat Village, owned by Cove Communities in Arizona, is being invaded by gophers.

They are expanding from mobile and city-owned property along 13th Avenue S.E. to dig in yards, live under homes, and play in outbuildings.

Children helping get the mail and waiting for school buses see birds eating dead gophers. We have a health issue here that is being ignored.

As a property owner and taxpayer, I request the city not consider any new development permit for Cove Communities until they demonstrate they can properly manage what they currently own. We seniors had difficulty taking out the garbage and getting mail this past winter because of unmaintained icy roads — now gophers.
