The second week of Alberta’s election campaign continues as United Conservative Leader Danielle Smith is scheduled to make an announcement this morning in Edmonton.
The election is set for May 29.
Smith was on the defensive Monday, apologizing for comments she made in a 2021 video comparing people who received a COVID-19 vaccine to followers of Adolf Hitler.
She said in the video that she was refusing to wear a Remembrance Day poppy because of the actions of politicians during the pandemic.
NDP Leader Rachel Notley called the Nazi comments “utterly horrifying.”
Notley was in Lethbridge on Monday night to speak to supporters and announce a plan to bring more doctors to southern Alberta.
