Heal the Hat expos have been taking place every spring in the city for years, and a special fall edition of the event is being held Oct. 19.

The events are usually held at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede grounds, but this time around it will be hosted at the Beveridge Landmark Events building from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

“We’re calling this Heal the Hat 2.0 because we’re doing a new format and we’re running it downtown this time,” said organizer Farren Assaly. “We’re calling this a holistic lifestyle expo and we’re going to have 13-20 businesses promoting natural health through their products and services.

“It’s going to be a great mix of things from natural cleaning products to life coaching.”

The event will feature live music, live demos and a self-care space – admission to the event is $2 at the door.

On top of general admission, the event is offering a Four Elements of Life Workshop Experience that is running from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“The Workshop Series is focusing on the four elements and it’s being held in the ballroom,” said Assaly. “This is a way to have a retreat experience – it’s being catered and there’s a workshop facilitator for each of the elements.

“We’re taking people and working to break the chains of their limitations through intention, connection action and creativity.”

The later hours of the event will feature a mini Pecha Kucha night with four speakers and a community drum circle from 7-9 p.m. There will be a space where children can interact and play while their parents are in workshops.

The theme for the event is ‘Life is Art’ and more information can be found at healthehat.com
