They only had one game on the weekend, but the Jasper Homes Hounds made it count.

The Medicine Hat midget AA hockey team didn’t let up in a 10-1 win over the Central Alberta Selects Saturday at the Kinplex, beginning a five-game homestand on the right note.

Nate Hoffman made 22 saves, taking his shutout bid into the third period with the score already well out of hand.

Caleb Irvine led with four assists, while Cameron Hall, Callen Prosofsky and Ty Moore each had a goal and two helpers. Brady Dovichak and Cayden Dumanowski each had two goals while Mason Mowat, Vaughn Strutt and Connor Miller had the other goals.

The Hounds don’t play a league game again until Nov. 22, owing largely to the Hockey Hounds bantam AAA tournament which runs Nov. 14-17.

Midget 15’s

Make it five games without a loss for the South East Athletic Club midget 15-year-old team.

The Tigers beat the Calgary Stampeders 6-4 Sunday, following a 5-5 tie with Calgary Royals Blue.

Tied 4-4 through 40 minutes Sunday, third-period goals from Kieran Christianson and Matthew MacPherson were the difference. MacPherson had two goals on the day while the others came from Brady Mahar, Austin Derzaph and Ty Flaig. Christianson and Daniel Ganert each added a pair of assists while Kaiden Morin made 27 saves for the win.

That followed Saturday’s exciting finish, in which Blue got a pair of goals 32 seconds apart to take a 5-4 lead with 5:06 to go. Josh Drefs responded on the power play two minutes later to tie it.

MacPherson, Ganert, Mahar and Braden Patey had the other Tigers goals. Landon Porteous made 25 saves in their net.

Bantam AAA

The South East Athletic Club’s bantam AAA team lost twice on the weekend, now on a five-game tailspin.

At Hockey Hounds Arena Saturday, the visiting Red Deer Rebels earned a 5-2 win. Josh Van Mulligen had both Tigers goals in the third period. Silas Currie made 33 saves, while his team only managed 21 shots on the Rebels net. The scoresheet only showed one penalty called the entire game.

In Calgary Sunday, the Tigers fell 5-3 to the Northstar Sabres. They never had a lead, with Van Mulligen, Brennin Wereley and Cole Unger getting goals and Beck Boiteau making 23 saves on 27 shots – Calgary iced the game with a late empty-netter.

A 5-5 tie against Taber Sunday was buoyed by a 4-for-5 power play, the last coming off the stick of Tavynn Schlaht in the third period.

Wyatt Bishop had a hat trick for Medicine Hat, while Zach Herman had a goal. Jacob Hazzard had three assists and Tyler Wakelam made 26 saves in net for the single point.
