The Medicine Hat Moose Monarchs were swept by the Kalispell Lakers in a three-game set on the road this weekend, leaving them at 3-9 on the AA American Legion Baseball season.

The Monarchs managed to carry a tie game into the bottom of the seventh to kick off the weekend Saturday, but ultimately suffered a 3-2 walk-off loss before falling 8-0 later that day and dropping a 13-3 game in five innings Sunday.

Wyatt Bergen did all he could to set his Monarchs up for victory after holding Kalispell to a pair of runs on three hits through the first 4 1/2 innings of Saturday’s opener.

Ashtyn Street took over in the fifth and carried the tie game into the seventh before the Lakers finally stole away the victory.

Ethan Boutkan picked up half of Medicine Hat’s hits in the loss with a 2-for-3 performance.

Things didn’t get any easier for Medicine Hat Saturday evening, as only Boutkan managed to get a hit in the 8-0 loss.

Starting pitcher Tyran George took the loss after allowing six runs — three earned — on five hits through four complete innings of work.

Dylan Koenig closed out the final two frames, allowing two runs on three hits.

The lifeless bats carried over to Sunday, where just two Monarchs managed to find the hit column in a lopsided loss. Jack Suhai went 2-for-2 with 2 RBI to help keep hope alive in the fifth inning while Cavan Kolody had his team’s only other hit in the setback.

Boutkan took the loss after allowing five runs — four earned — on four hits through the first 1 1/3 innings.

The Monarchs return home to Jeffries Field to host the Lethbridge Elks Wednesday at 7 p.m.
