Dawson Murschell took down the No. 2-ranked darts player in the world to earn his first paycheck on the Professional Darts Corporation tour.

The Medicine Hat pro beat Peter Wright 6-5 Sunday in Barsnely, England, then knocked off Mario Robbe 6-5 before falling 6-3 to Steve West in the round of 32.

“Happy to get my first 1,000 (pounds) for the pro tour on the board today,” wrote Murschell on various social media sites. “Broke the seal, back in a few weeks. Bring it on…”

The winner of each of the 22 pro tour stops wins 10,000 pounds (about CDN$17,500). The next stops are March 10 and 11 in Barnsley.

World No. 1 Michael van Gerwen won Sunday’s event, following up his win in Saturday’s season opener.
