Salta girls score all-around titles

Salta Gymnastics Club members rang up 16 medals from the Exelta Cup in Red Deer this past weekend, led by a pair of gold medal all-around titles.

Kristen Friesen and Gemma Snazel each topped the charts —Friesen in Junior Olympic Level 4 and Snazel in Level 3.

Friesen’s all-around win included a gold on floor exercise and silver medals on vault and uneven bars.

Snazel won her all-around by medaling in each event —gold on balance beam and floor, bronze on vault and bars.

Salta had plenty of representation in Red Deer, with 11 athletes competing. Other medalists were:

—Daniele Hollingworth: Silver on vault and floor (Level 4)

—Emma Flug: Gold on uneven bars, silver on vault (Level 4)

—Makayla Van Leeuwen: Third all-around, first on vault (Level 3)

—Jenna Schubert: Silver on floor (Level 3)

The Salta gym will hosts its annual Cactus Classic Feb. 24.
