Uncle and nephew combo thrive in the boxing ring

The uncle and nephew combo of Jamie and Tristan Deveau battled to a pair of decisive victories in the boxing ring while representing the Medicine Hat Boxing Club at the Deerfoot Casino in Calgary last weekend.

Tristan fought his way to a first-round stoppage after landing a heavy right hand on Oscar Timofiew in a 75-kilogram junior class bout.

Jamie, 38, picked up right where his nephew left off with a big 178-pound victory over Spencer Valgardson. Despite being in his first-ever boxing match, Jamie defeated Valgardson in the second round after delivering an eight-count in the first.

Janick Lacroix will look to continue on Medicine Hat Boxing Club’s strong start to 2018 when he enters the ring in Nelson, B.C. on Saturday.

The Medicine Hat Boxing Club will bring the best that B.C. and Alberta have to offer for the 14th annual Nieman/Page Memorial Show at the Clarion Hotel on Jan. 20 and 21.
