Minor Hockey Roundup: Local Peewee teams hold Teddy Bear Toss night

Just one night after the Western Hockey League’s Medicine Hat Tigers held their annual Teddy Bear Toss, a pair of local peewee hockey teams held their own, donating all toys thrown on the ice to charity.

The Peewee Canadians met with the Knights, with the Knights coming away with an 8-3 victory.

Fans didn’t have to wait long to throw their stuffed animals onto the Canalta Centre Ice during the game, with William Davison scoring midway into the first, and fans hurled dozens of toys onto the ice.

Midget 15s

The SEAC Midget 15 Tigers struggles continued this weekend, with a pair of losses to division opponents.

Friday the team met with the Rockeyview Raiders for an evening match on the road.

The first-place Raiders made quick work of the Tigers with a 5-1 win, moving Rockeyview to a record of 14-1-1 and the Tigers to a record of 2-14-1.

Gavin Schroeder scored the lone Tigers goal at 3:01 in the second period.

Nate Hoffman was in net for the Tigers, making 32 saves on 37 shots.

The club returned home Saturday for an afternoon tilt against the NWCAA Bruins.

SEAC fell 7-3, with goals coming from Schroeder, Kobyn Fritz and Caleb Irvine. Hunter Kauppi and Kagen Rude each had two assists.

The Tigers play a pair of road games this weekend.

Midget AA

The Can Pak Environmental Midget AA Hounds split the weekend, winning a close game Saturday, before dropping one Sunday.

The Hounds took on the Wheatland Chiefs Saturday, and took a 2-1 win with all goals coming in the second period.

The first goal was a shor-thanded one scored by Ryley Manz. The game-winner was scored by Dax Wandler, assists coming from Jacob Milne and Brayden Anderson.

Dawsen Savage was in net for the win with 36 shots.

Sunday the team fell to the Taber Golden Suns by a score of 4-2.

Ryley Manz had the first goal, assisted by Austin Klimosko and Matt Lafferty. Dawson Hittel had the second goal, assisted by Peyton Cox and Connor Miller.

Aidan Kruger and Dawsen Savage shared the time in net and faced 23 shots.

The Hounds outshot Taber 42 to 23.

The Midget AA Hounds are on the road next weekend to play the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Friday and the Calgary Rangers on Sunday.

Peewee Hounds

The Peewee Hounds stayed hot, and undefeated this weekend, with a pair of lopsided victories.

Saturday the Hounds beat the Red Deer Motors 10-3.

Sunday the Hounds took down the Airdrie Lightning 6-0.

The Hounds next game is Saturday Dec. 16 on the road against the Wheatland Braves.
