Crockford, Pretzlaw win Barrie Shave women’s title

Gina Crockford and Wai-Cheng Pretzlaw held on to outlast Linda Norris and Kristen Norris and hoist the Barrie Shave Memorial Classic doubles tournament women’s championship on Sunday at the MedicineHat Tennis Club, 6-4, 7-5.

The top-seeded Norris squad mounted a strong pushback effort in the second set. While Kristen suffered an injury in the second and managed to finish the match, the duo were unable to force a deciding third set.

The top seeds took the top spot on the men’s side of the tournament, with Raymond Weich and Niall Weich clinching the men’s title, 4-6, 7-6, 6-2, in a back-and-forth battle against Calvin Heller and Mason Heller.

Trevor Riddell and Troy Riddell took the men’s B title with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Mitchell Heller and Jin Shin, and Brock and Tanner Hale defeated Mike Dykstra and Sandeep Pareek, 6-7, 6-3, 6-2, to win the C division.

Kassie Bourassa and Corrine Peters took the women’s B title after defeating Dannan McElroy-O’Driscoll and Brooke Pfeifer, 6-4 6-2, and Lily Laurent and Carla Thorogood won the C event with a6-2, 6-3 win over Pam Sulz and Kayley Sulz
