1929 – DORIS POISSON – 2018 Doris passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018, at the age of 88 years, beloved wife of the late Benoit Poisson. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Jay (Wanda) and their three daughters, Tayler, Jackie and Kenzie; Kerry (Cindy) and their two children, Danielle (Jake Kirschenman) and Vance; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Benoit, their oldest son Ronald; her parents, three sisters and four brothers. The funeral service will be held in Christ the King Roman Catholic Church in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Dollard Cemetery. 1940 ~ GLADYS ANDERSON ~ 2018 Gladys Edith (Sheward) Anderson, beloved wife of the late Eric Anderson, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 18th, 2018 surrounded by family and friends at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. Gladys was born in Medicine Hat on January 10th, 1940 to Fred and Doris Sheward, a sister for Jim. She attended Elizabeth and Elm Street Schools and from seven years of age, she grew up living on the Stampede Grounds, maybe where her fascination for the cowboy life was triggered. Her working history was intertwined with her social life, for Gladys was interested in people, never hesitating to engage in conversation. Her memory for the people she met–incredible. She worked at Woolworth's 1956-1969, OK Economy 1969-1976, Crescent Heights Pharmacy 1976-1982, Sept's Drugstore 1982-1983, and Woolco 1984-1994. Thirty-eight years of work which she was very proud of.
She married the love of her life on August 31st, 1963 for the next 46 years they enjoyed all life had for them including rodeo, Polka-fests, Tiger hockey games, travelling to 10 different countries, many nights at the Moose, attended the NFR in Las Vegas (18 years in a row) and in Edmonton, camping and socializing with relatives and friends. Although she had no children of her own, she demonstrated that family was important to her, in her dedication to her mom and the Anderson family history, which she and Eric collected and recorded in her meticulous albums. Leaving a very important legacy for us to cherish.
A lot can be said about a person by the friends they have, and Gladys had many, but certainly her long-time friend Alfreida Vorra and her family have held a special place in her heart and instrumental in her quality of life especially the past nine years. For example, all of the holiday dinners and Tiger hockey games that Don took her too, they were hi-light evenings. This year Gladys and Don were even featured on the Kissing Cam! Gladys kept busy and continued her love of dancing, even line dancing up to a year ago. For the last five years Gladys has been a resident at Meadowlands where her outgoing, adventurous personality encouraged both her peers and the staff, she was a participator and that really accentuated her life's motto—'living life to the fullest’ and as she said on her last days, “I've had a good life–but I miss my family”.
There are many more things that could be shared about Gladys, her amazing organization and recording skills, her taste for beautiful clothes and jewelry, her pride and care of her home and appearance, but the most precious was her memory for people and their names, after all isn't that honouring those we meet and care about. She was predeceased by her husband, Eric; her parents, Fred and Doris Sheward; her brother, Jim Sheward; brothers-in-law, Bobby, Eddy, Donald and Lee Anderson, Roy Chesney, George Simpson, and Art Sheward; and sisters-in-law, Diane Sheward, Florence Anderson, Annabelle Sheward, Mildred Simpson, and Leona Chesney.

EARLE FRANKLIN MAHAFFY 1929 – 2018
Earle passed away at the Lampman Community Health Centre, Lampman, Sask. on Monday, May 21, 2018 at the age of 88 years. Earle was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Ella (Fyke) Mahaffy; his loving wife Donalda; and brother-in-law Sandy Meyer. His memory will be forever cherished by his son James (Linda); daughter Maureen (Randy) Ulrich; grandchildren, Robin, Brent (Trish), Blaire and Sara; sister Laura Meyer; sister-in-law Judy (Dennis) Strauss; nephews, Clark, Charles (Irina), Clint (Katie) Meyer and David (Wendy) Strauss; nieces, Sandra (Glen) Bergdahl and Kristin Strauss; great nieces and nephews, Jeremy, Dayna, Josh, Talissa, Katrina, Rebecca, Sasha and Alius; cousin George Mahaffy. A Memorial Service for Earle will be held on Monday, May 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, Lampman, with Pastor Martin Olson officiating. A luncheon will be held in the lower level of the church, after which interment will take place at Woodley Cromar Cemetery. ERNEST JOHN CASSELMAN August 28, 1929 – March 21, 2018
Ernie Casselman, beloved husband of the late Norma Casselman, passed away in Wainwright at the age of 88 years. Left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Donald of Three Hills, Alberta; Thomas of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; his sister Carol (Nick) Pivtoran of Eatonia, Saskatchewan ; numerous nieces and nephews ; his dogs Danny and Meisha as well as a large circle of friends and acquaintances. He was predeceased by his wife of fifty years, Norma; his parents, Elgin and Emily Casselman; an infant sister, Marion; father-in-law, Art Patterson and mother-in-law, Velma Patterson; sister-in-law, Frances Redmond and her husband, Don Redmond; nephew, Terry Pivtoran; and Norma’s niece, Dixie Bowen. Ernie was born in Madison, Saskatchewan and grew up and worked in Glidden. He moved to Wainwright in 1952 where he worked as a mechanic and was part owner of a garage. He obtained his teaching degree at University of Alberta and married Norma Patterson in 1958. They moved to Medicine Hat in 1965 where they both taught school. Ernie taught Industrial Arts at Medicine Hat High School and retired in 1985. In retirement they loved working on their farm south of Medicine Hat, planting many shrubs and trees. Ernie loved the land; he seeded crops of oats, wheat, and flax and a bountiful vegetable garden and flowers. They enjoyed traveling afar as well as nearby for round or square dancing, and skiing. There were many trips to Yuma, Arizona in their motor home to spend the winters where they loved Round Dancing with the Carousel Club and visiting friends. After Norma’s passing Ernie moved to Wainwright. He loved to travel near and far with his little dogs to visit family and friends. He always had a funny story to tell and he is missed by many. In honour of Ernie’s wishes there will be no formal funeral service.

WILLIAM DENNIS BUTTERWICK 1931 ~ 2018
William D (Bill) Butterwick of Foremost, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on May 21, 2018 at the age of 86.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Delores and two sons Dan (Donna) and Randy (Norma); daughter-in-law Cynthia; 8 grandchildren; 13 great- grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Myrna (Bob) Kuhl, Vivian Butterwick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; his son Bev; and a daughter-in-law Sam; sister Nora and husband Bill Ferris; and brothers George and wife Alice, and Bernard; step-sister Bernice Riley; and step-brother Jerry Cooke and nephew Darrel Kuhl.
Bill was born in Nemiskam, Alberta on June 4th, 1931 to Ashley and Jeanette Butterwick. He attended grade school in Nemiskam and high-school in Foremost and upon graduation in 1949 he married his high-school sweetheart Delores and settled down in Nemiskam. They moved to the Manyberries area when Bill accepted a job with Montana Power in 1951 and to Foremost in 1983. He started working on the drilling rigs during his high school years part-time and had a long and distinguished career in the energy industry.
Bill will be remembered for his love for his family, friends and his community.
A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held at 2:30pm on Monday, May 28, 2018 at the FOREMOST COMMUNITY HALL, 802 1 Ave. W., Foremost, AB.

WOODWARD Evelyn Lynne Woodward passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018, at the age of 78 years, beloved wife of the late Leslie “Woody” Woodward. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Corrie (Mike) Phillips of Medicine Hat and Amber (Pat) Stafford of Blairmore, Alberta; three grandchildren, Katelyn Phillips, Kimberlyn Phillips and Jacob Stafford; one brother Larry McLaughlin and one sister Marlene Roll as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Emma and Lynn McLaughlin; her husband Leslie on November 5, 2002, and her daughter Wanda on August 14, 1987. Evelyn was born on December 15, 1939 in Medicine Hat and was raised in Irvine. On October 15, 1960 she married Leslie Woodward in Medicine Hat and together resided in Irvine where they raised their family, owned the Pool Hall and farmed. Later, Leslie became the Town Foreman and Evelyn the Postmaster for over 26 years. She retired and was the caregiver for her husband until his passing in 2002. Evelyn enjoyed playing darts and cards as well as her involvement in her community with the 20 Mile Post Historical Society, the St. George Cemetery and the Irvine Museum.
