1920 ~ IDA KLEISTER ~ 2017

It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of our Mother, Ida Kleister, on Saturday, November 18th, 2017 at the age of 97 years. Mama was the matriarch of 5 generations. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Ella (Richard) Belau and Ida (Joel) Simmons; 6 grandchildren, Rita (David) Nieman, Rick (Shelley) Belau, Rob (Tammy) Belau, Joell (Andi) Bacon, Mark (Lisa) Simmons and Lesley (Brett) Howe; along with 13 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are her 3 sisters, Erika Schellenberg, Annella Bieber and Lilli Tessmann and their families. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Otto in 1999; her parents, Eduard (Emma) Tessmann and Bertha Tessmann; her one brother, Edmund and several siblings as infants. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at ST. PETER LUTHERAN CHURCH, 758 – 8th Street SE, on Friday from 12:30 until 1:25 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at ST. PETER LUTHERAN CHURCH on Friday, November 24th, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Shane Hein officiating. A private family interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery. Mrs. Doris Corcoran of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Buster Corcoran, passed away on Wednesday, November 15th, 2017 on her 91st birthday. Doris leaves to cherish her memory her children, Sandra (Clinton) Tucker, Brenda Corcoran, Joan Caldwell and Gene (Lola) Corcoran; twelve grandchildren; and three sisters. Lawrence Edward “Larry” Brenner passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017, at the age of 72 years, beloved husband of Millie Brenner of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory two children, Gary (Arine) Brenner of Cochrane, Tina-Louise Brenner (Derek Van Diest) of Edmonton; and his mother and father-in-law Edwin (Alice) Kanewischer of Schuler. He was predeceased by his parents, Victoria Button and Michael “Mickey” Brenner, and one brother and sister-in-law, Mickey (Angela) Brenner. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday, November 24, 2017 at 11:30 a.m., Frank Devine will officiate. GEORGE SIMON "SY" POISSON

George Simon “Sy” Poisson passed away peacefully at the Riverview Care Centre on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at the age of 82 years. He leaves to cherish his memory four children, Joseph (Tracey) Poisson, Shannon (Russell) Stuber, Phyllis (Kelly) Carlson and Robert (Nikki) Poisson; twelve grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; one sister as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Ellen; parents, Henry and Gertrude as well as four siblings. Sy was born on November 29, 1934 in Eastend, SK. and grew up on a farm there. He worked for the PFRA and was a ranch hand for numerous years.The family moved to Redcliff in 1970 where Sy worked as a ranch hand and later for Law Transport which later evolved into Orlick Transport. He then worked for the Town of Irvine for a period of time before following his heart back to his roots, buying a farm in Hatton. He was a true cowboy at heart and had a love for dogs. In the 70’s, he filled his spare time playing bass guitar in a band. After Sy’s health failed, he lived at the Valleyview and later the Riverview Care Centre. He loved his wife Ellen and missed her immensely after she passed. He was very proud of his family and the strong values he and Ellen had instilled in them. Ellen was waiting for Sy and opened the gate when he arrived. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to all the staff at Riverview for the love and care they provided to Sy. A special thank you to Bonnie and Cindy for their companionship. HELLER

It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Lloyd Gerald Heller, announce his passing on Monday November 13, 2017 at the age of 72 years. Lloyd is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years Paulette; his two children Mathew (Marie-Louise), Stephanie (David) Green and grandson Sloan; extended family Elizabeth Hargrave, and Papa to Hudson, Alec, Savannah and Isabelle; his brother Wayne (Kathy), nieces Anne (Lance), Rosalyn (Eric) and great nephew Ericson, aunt Erna (

Ben) Schorr. He was predeceased by his loving parents, Elsie and Bill, his in-laws, Paul and Olga Pudwell and extended family Alicia and James Hargrave.
Lloyd was born March 6, 1945 in Medicine Hat. He grew up on the family ranch in the Many Island Lakes Area. He graduated from Medicine Hat High School and went on to further his education at the University of Edmonton and Olds College. Once Lloyd finished college, he started working on the family ranch alongside his father Bill and a few years later, his brother Wayne.
Dad loved the ranch and was very protective of the land and his cattle. His quiet time was when he would drive through the fields checking this cattle with his four legged partner Sophie by his side
Dad loved sports excelling in curling, golf and baseball. Dad’s competitive curling started in High School where he teamed up with his brother in law Doug Pudwell, Don Bruins and Sandy Patience. Curling took him all around the country but two of his highlights were participating in the Canadian Masters in Nova Scotia and curling with his son Mathew. He was a kind and thoughtful man who was always there to lend a helping hand and make sure his family’s dreams came true.
Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Thursday evening only, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the Holy Family Parish (1451 Strachan Road SE) on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. MUTSCHLER

Robert Bruce “Bob” Mutschler passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at the age of 79 years, beloved husband of Delores Mutschler of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory two children, Kenton (Irene) Mutschler and Carmen (Darryl) Washburn; two grandchildren, Isabelle and Kyran and a sister, Tina Hubbs; two sisters-in-law Lorraine (Lyndon ) Gegolick and Connie (Willie) Silcher. He was predeceased by his parents, Louise and Christian Mutschler and his siblings, Harry Mutschler, Ellen Oster, Dorothy Gill and Viola Dederer; Bob was born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan and raised in the town of Fox Valley until the age of nine. His family then moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta where he finished his schooling and began working in the parts department at Amos Motors. After a short time, Bob found his true path was in the printing business starting out as a stenographer at Val Marshall Printing. It was at this time that he met the love of his life, Delores, and the two of them started both a family and a business together. Bob and Delores owned and operated The Printer from 1974 until just this past spring of 2017. The Printer was not only a place of business, but a place to meet and greet family and friends as well. Bob enjoyed golfing, camping, archaeological trips, white water rafting and was often seen with his red pen handy to correct spelling mistakes on restaurant menus and in other print. He most enjoyed making others laugh. Bob always had a favourite joke or entertaining story to share. His family will remember him mostly for his love of Bluegrass music, his sense of humour and of course the song, “House of the Rising Sun”. PENNER

Hilda Penner, formerly of Rosemary, Brooks, and Medicine Hat, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 21st, 2017 at the age of 94. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband John; children Layol (Doug) McRae, Cheryl (Ray) Bergen, and Glade (Phyllis) Penner; grandchildren Paige Riegel, Kelsey (John) Anderson, Melanie (Peter) Bosomworth, Andrew (Brett) Bergen, Matthew (Amber) Penner, and Cameron Penner, and 16 great-grandchildren. Hilda arrived in Canada from Osterwick, Russia at the age of 5 months. The family settled first in Harris, SK., then Clemenceau, Irma, and Calgary, AB. She moved to Rosemary, AB in 1951, when she married John. Here they built a life and raised their family. Hilda’s life was one of faith and service. She gave generously of her time, talents, and wisdom. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 24th at 2:00 PM from the Rosemary Mennonite Church. Rev. Frank Krulicki officiating.
