1940 ~ JEAN SWEET ~ 2017

Jean Louise Sweet, beloved wife of Ross Sweet of Redcliff, passed away on Monday, May 8th, 2017 at the age of 77 years. Jean also leaves to cherish her memory four children, Don (Lisa) of Red Deer, Darryl (Shelley) of Airdrie, Marvin (Karen) and Sheila (Terry), both of Redcliff; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one sister, Sharon (Brian) Boist of Lacombe; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Morrow of Ponoka; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by her parents, Vern and Lillian Morrow; one brother, Marvin; and one sister, Helen. Jean was born on May 5th, 2017 in Edmonton. She married Ross on August 15th, 1958 in Ponoka. Jean worked at C.F.B. Suffield for 21 years, retiring in 1996. She was very active with the Royal Canadian Legion, Ladies Auxiliary. Jean enjoyed camping at their lot at Rattlesnake for many years. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who will miss her dearly. GLEED

Colin Gleed of Medicine Hat, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at the age of 65 years, beloved husband of the late Marlys Gleed . He leaves to cherish his memory, two children, Colleen (Darryl) Floberg and Nicole (Abraham Deng) Gleed; seven grandchildren, Jarrett, David, Markom, Savannah, Guevara, Aubrielle and Hawaya; his brothers Stuart (Liz) Gleed and Charles (May) Gleed; his sisters Jean (Douglas) Shaw and Anne (Robert) Campbell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Jean Gleed; his wife, Marlys Gleed, and one grandson, Lucas Floberg on February 3, 2012. Colin was born in Glasgow, Scotland on March 3, 1952 to parents Robert and Jean. He came to Canada in 1972 with the British Military, and met Marlys (Dahlke) and shortly after they married in 1974. Colin immigrated to Canada in 1975, where he began his 30 year career at CFB Suffield. He was actively involved in the youth bowling program while the girls were young. He was a coach to many kids and was always cheering them on through every tournament. As well, he volunteered countless hours to various organizations throughout the city for many years. Colin loved travelling, fishing, watching curling, but most of all spending time with his grandkids. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:55 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. HOFER

Paul Hofer passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at the age of 65 years, beloved husband of Angela Hofer of Seven Persons. He also leaves to cherish his memory three children, Paul (Kelly) Hofer, Cindy Sorkilmo (Rob Thompson) and Jody (Jeff) Dudley; his brothers, Tom Hofer and Elliot (Evelyn) Greene and his family; his sister Lynn (Robert) Gramp and her family. He was predeceased by his parents, Elenore Greene and Walter Hofer and his sister Debbie Greene. Paul was a man with a big heart and always tried to find the good in everyone he met. He was gentle and caring and loved his family deeply, including his dogs. Paul was the kind of man that touched a lot of people through his life, and he was well liked by so many. Paul was always full of life and loved to talk, laugh and tell stories. He had a big voice and a quirky sense of humour. Paul had brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as a lifetime of friends, who he spoke about often. The love of his life was Angie, his beautiful wife of 41 years and his son Paul, who was his pride and joy. He also loved the girls he considered his daughters- Cindy, Jody and Kelly. He was fortunate enough to meet and fall in love with his adorable granddaughter, Taylor. He also had quite a soft spot for his sons-in-law Jeff and Rob. It was his family that he lived for and fought so long and hard to stay here for. Paul will live on in the hearts that loved him and will be deeply missed. It is with heavy hearts that the family of Victoria ‘Vickie’ Elaine Holbrook, beloved wife of the late Wayne Holbrook, announce her passing at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at the age of 74 years.
