1918 ~ FENRICH ~ 2016

Mrs. Grace Fenrich of Medicine Hat, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, April 18th, 2016, four days short of her 98th birthday. Grace was predeceased by her husband, Michael Fenrich in 1997. Grace leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Sharon (Dale) Odland of Medicine Hat; one son, Marvin (Terry) Fenrich of Kelowna, British Columbia; four grandchildren, Sharon’s children, Sheldon (Brenda), Shaun (Shannon), Robin (Lawton), and Marvin’s son, Andrew (Astrid); six great- grandchildren, Kelsey and Jenessa, Sheriden and Shaye, Logan and Kassie; one sister, Blanche; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Grace was predeceased by her parents, David and Ester Cocks; four brothers, Barry, Glen, Oscar, and Ross; and one sister, Nora. Grace was born on April 22nd, 1918 in Leader, Saskatchewan and was raised in the Leader area. She married Michael Fenrich in 1944. Together they farmed in the Prelate District until 1960 when they moved to Medicine Hat. Grace and Michael were both employed on the custodial staff of McCoy High School until 1978 and they were members of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church. Grace enjoyed growing flowers for which she received many ribbons at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede. She grew wonderful vegetables to share generously with her family, friends, and neighbours. She always delighted in giving and making others happy. Grace lived independently in her home until age 95 when she moved into Masterpiece Retirement Residence where she lived to the fullest and appreciated wonderful care and friendships. Grace will be sadly missed by her family, but she will always be remembered for her love, caring and generosity. A Private Graveside Service will be held at Hillside Cemetery on Saturday, April 23rd, 2016 with Father Francis Tran, officiating. Mildred Mary Ellis of Medicine Hat, passed away on Wednesday, April 20th, 2016 at the age of 92 years. Mildred leaves to cherish her memory her children, Roy (Collette), Larry, Virginia (Lyal), Marion, and Brenda (Ed), and their families. Betty May Lawson (nee Robinson) was born in Toronto, Ontario on April 2nd, 1924 and passed away in Medicine Hat on Friday, April 15th, 2016 at the age of 92 years. Betty was the beloved wife of the late Peter Lawson and they were married for 67 years before his passing. Betty leaves to cherish her memory her three sons, Andy Lawson (Jackie Waggoner), David (Carol) Lawson, and Robert (Terry) Lawson; six grandchildren, Lisa (Miles) Lutz, Corey (Leeann) Fisher, Jason Lawson (Marcie Henke), Krista (Derek) Notenbomer, Lee Lawson (Ashleigh Schneider) and Devin Lawson; nine great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Tina Lobinsoff; and many nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her son, Peter James Lawson; parents, James and Nessie Robinson; two brothers, Robert and Ronald; as well as Peter’s siblings, Florence, Mike, Marion and Brilliant. Yvonne Celine Eirich, beloved wife of Curtis Eirich, passed away on Saturday, April 16th, 2016 at the age of 51 years at St. Joseph’s Home (Carmel Hospice). Yvonne leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Curtis Eirich of Medicine Hat; her two children, Rolanda Eirich and husband Brandon Vance of Medicine Hat, and Logan Eirich of Medicine Hat; and the one and only grandchild and love of her life, Easton Vance. She also leaves a sister, Rhonda (Jerome) Mastel of Edmonton; and brother, Arthur (Jeannette) Helfrich of Medicine Hat; her best friend, Sandi Burton; as well as many other extended family and friends. Yvonne was predeceased by her parents, Anton and Cecile Helfrich; and two brothers, Rodney and Bernard Helfrich. Yvonne spent most of her career working as a secretary or paralegal. She loved volunteering and helping people in need. Yvonne enjoyed life to the fullest. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter shopping and going to garage sales as well as scrapbooking and doing crafts. Yvonne and Curtis would spend most of their summers camping, fishing and boating. Yvonne especially enjoyed laying on the beach, reading a good book and sipping on a glass of wine or fruity drink. She loved to travel and in 2008 Yvonne convinced Curtis to live a little and get on his first plane ride to Florida. Yvonne was a free spirit, always said what was on her mind and never took life too seriously. She was a fighter and fought to the very end; even made it there to witness the birth of her first grand baby. Love you to the moon and back mom…you will be forever missed! ARCHIE THOMAS HEHR

October 28, 1929 – April 16, 2016
It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Archie Hehr, on Saturday, April 16, 2012, at the age of 86, in the Medicine Hat Hospital. Archie will be forever loved and deeply missed by his children, Nadine (Jim) Robertson of Coleman and Perry (Susan) Hehr of Medicine Hat; four grandchildren Jamie (Neena) Robertson, Shawn Robertson, Amanda Hehr and Nolan Hehr and great granddaughter Addilyn Robertson. Also mourning his passing are several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years Alvina, in 2007, his parents Otto Hehr and Olga Boschee, step-father Ed Boschee, brothers Robert and Ernie and a sister Noreen Stratton. Archie was born on October 28, 1929, in Medicine Hat where he resided until his passing. As a young man Archie worked for the CPR until age 29. He then found employment at the Dominion Glass Factory, where he worked for the next 31 years until his retirement at age 60 in 1989. Archie married Alvina Nittel on May 17, 1952. Together they enjoyed traveling south, fishing, camping and bowling with friends and family. He was a dedicated Tigers season ticket holder from 1972 to 2014 when mobility problems prevented him from attending. Dad even kept moms seat beside him after she passed for family who wanted to attend. His hobbies included watching the Toronto Blue Jays, reading, playing crib and gardening which he was extremely good at. He provided vegetables for the whole family up to last summer. Archie was a dedicated father with exceptional high standards and values. He was kind and giving of himself to others and always helped those in need. Archie’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with his grandchildren, whether it involved watching their many sports, going south on vacations, camping or attending school functions. Most recently he enjoyed spending time with his first great grandchild. Extended family camping and fishing trips, Sunday and Christmas suppers were a large part of his life for many years. He has joined his partner in life, whom he has profoundly missed for the past 8 1/2 years. They are playing crib together and mom will be winning as usual. A graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. FORSYTH, Helen A. (Nee Laderoute)

July 20, 1927 – April 19, 2016
at the age of 88. Our Mother died peacefully in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Helen was the beloved wife of the late Lenard Forsyth. She will be forever missed by her children, Catherine ( Daniel) Smith, Deborah Healy ( Ron Baird), Joseph Forsyth, John Forsyth, Tim ( Agnes) Forsyth, Dean (Nadine) Forsyth, Candy Forsyth (Sean O’Toole) and Ralph (Stephanie) Forsyth. Mom was known as “Little Grandma” by her twenty one grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was the daughter of William and Gertrude (Dooling) Laderoute of Arnprior, Ontario. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Lenard Alexander Forsyth on March 8 ,1986 and by her sisters, Dorothy Hamm, Lillian Doucet, and Clare Laderoute, brother, Patrick Laderoute and her half brothers and sisters, Lorne, Sylvester, Norah and Isabel, and by her first son, William and her granddaughter, Jessica Forsyth. Mom was employed by the Federal Government for 37 years. Her vacations and summer weekends were spent at our cottage, where she loved picking berries and pulling rocks. Mom was blessed with good health for most of her life and rode her bicycle until she was 80! She enjoyed her exercise classes and was an avid skater. Mom had a great talent for quilting. Mom was one of the founding members of the Friendship Club of Gatineau. She was a faithful member of St. Aloysuis Church in Gatineau, Quebec from its inception until she moved to Medicine Hat in 2011. She was also a member of the Catholic Women’s League, her Roman Catholic faith was very important to her, and was strongly encouraged in her children. “May songs of the angels welcome her home.” Special thanks to the Carmelite Sisters of the Divine Heart of Jesus and the staff of Riverview Care Centre and Dr. Monti, Dr. Marsay, and Dr. Duke and the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at Harmonie Funeral Home (Maloney Boulevard, Gatineau) on Monday, April 25, 2016 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Vigil Prayers will be said on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Aloysuis Church (300 Abbe Murray, Gatineau) at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday April 26, 2016. Lunch and a history of mom’s life will be held in the church hall following the Mass. Interment will be at St. Columban Cemetery in Quinnville beside the love of her life, our dear father, Lenard. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Ray (Joanne) Raw and daughter Bev (Jim) Graham along with her daughter-in-law, Audrey Raw; four grandchildren, Harold (Monique) Raw, Jason Graham, Gabriel (Bonnie) Graham and Jamie (Kristen) Graham; five great grandchildren, Kyle Raw, Carly Raw, Xander, Nathan and Raynee Graham; three sisters, Clara Vossler, Dorothy Dreger and Evelyn Janke as well as numerous nieces and nephews. REV. KEVIN JOHNSTON

1959 ~ 2016
Rev. Kevin E. Johnston, a resident of Medicine Hat, Alberta and formerly of several communities throughout Saskatchewan, London and Wallaceburg, Ontario chose to end his life and passed away suddenly at his residence on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, following a difficult journey with mental illness and depression. He was born in Wallaceburg on March 13, 1959. Kevin is survived by his brother, Fred; sister, Jane Boulanger (Luc); nephews and nieces, John Johnston, Jay Shantz (Paige), Jennifer Hopkins (Blain), Eric and Allison Boulanger; great-nephews and niece, Easton and Alba Hopkins, Landon and baby Shantz and his “forever friend” Roger Snyder. He will be remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was especially close to his Aunt Sandra and Uncle Eric Johnston. He was predeceased by his parents Ed (2001) and Elaine (Turner) (2015) Johnston. A Memorial Service in Kevin’s honour will be held at Fifth Avenue Memorial United Church, 476 – 4 Street S.E., Medicine Hat on Monday, April 25, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. with Rev.
